LPN Programs

Most practical nursing programs last about 1 year and include both classroom study and supervised clinical practice (patient care). Classroom study covers basic nursing concepts and patient-care related subjects, including anatomy, physiology, medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics, psychiatric nursing, administration of drugs, nutrition, and first aid. Hospital employment for LPNs is on the decline but employment opportunities are available in physician offices, nursing homes, health department settings, and personal home care settings to name just a few. In most employment settings, the LPN works under the direct supervision of an RN. Here's some information on financing your education.

Most, but not all, LPN programs are located in the Tennessee Technology Centers throughout the State.
